Marc Marquez Survives Two Horrific Crashes at Assen Circuit

Marc Marquez endured two frightening incidents at Assen Circuit — yet fortunately escaped serious injury.

The first crash occurred during morning practice at nearly 200 km/h — resulting in circulation issues in his hand. While in the afternoon session, the Ducati rider was dragged across the track and gravel — causing impacts to his chest and chin requiring stitches.

Dr. Angel Charte, MotoGP’s medical director, confirmed through Ducati’s report that the rider suffered no fractures — only bruising to his face, finger, stomach, and left elbow.

“The most important thing is everything was just bruises. This morning my hand went completely numb due to the impact on the ulnar nerve near the left elbow,” Marquez explained.

“They need to replace the gravel because it’s made of stones. That should be replaced by next year,” he added regarding track safety.

Despite being in pain, Marquez maintained his humor — “They gave me stitches in my chin, but they don’t count towards the championship.”
