Marc Marquez reveals major sacrifices for 2025 MotoGP dominance

Marc Marquez acknowledges sacrificing many things when deciding to join Ducati through Gresini Racing — but these sacrifices have proven fruitful with his dominance in the 2025 season.

The 32-year-old Spanish rider has a glorious history with Honda — securing six world championships between 2013 and 2019. His career took a downturn after a serious accident at the 2020 Spanish MotoGP that resulted in severe injury to his right arm.

After undergoing four major surgeries and witnessing Honda’s declining performance, Marquez made a bold decision by terminating his contract early. His move to join Ducati’s satellite team Gresini in 2024 yielded positive results with three GP victories and third place in the final standings.

This success led Marquez to the Ducati factory team, replacing Jorge Martin who moved to Aprilia. After 10 rounds this season, his dominance is evident with eight sprint race victories and six grand prix wins — building a 68-point lead at the top of the standings.
