Marc Marquez praises new MotoGP steward Simon Crafar’s approach

Ducati Lenovo rider Marc Marquez has praised new MotoGP steward Simon Crafar — for his handling of the incident with Francesco Bagnaia during the Italian MotoGP at Mugello Circuit.

Both Ducati riders were called to the FIM stewards office after the race to discuss their battle for the lead position — though no formal investigation was initiated.

“It’s nothing, this is just MotoGP. Simon Crafar does it very well because he always wants to talk and hear all riders’ opinions,” Marquez told Sky Italy.

“They told me if you overtake, you need a wider line to give space so he can pass,” explained the 32-year-old rider while speaking with his crew chief Marco Rigamonti.

Marquez appreciates this new approach — contrasting with the old system that immediately pointed out riders’ mistakes without prior discussion.
