Marc Marquez Claims Italian GP Sprint Victory Despite Start Issues

Marc Marquez achieved a surprising victory in the Italian GP sprint race — a feat made more remarkable by the technical issues he faced at the start.

The pole position starter initially lost several positions due to confusion with the launch control system. However, his recovery proved masterful as he finished ahead of his brother Alex Marquez and Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

“It was a super great surprise to be on pole position and win the sprint race in the way we did, because I did a mistake on the start,” Marc explained about the incident.

This victory strengthens Marc’s position at the top of the standings — leading by 35 points over Alex in second place. Nevertheless, the senior rider remains cautious given several incidents he’s experienced in main races this season.

“If tomorrow Pecco or Alex, who are normally very fast at Mugello, are faster than me, I need to accept and take points,” Marc added.

Alex Marquez, still pursuing his first title, acknowledged his brother’s excellence:

“He’s the main opponent at the moment for the championship. Fighting against your brother is always special, but he’s one of those opponents that is tough, because he’s always there.”
