Marc Marquez Claims Italian GP Pole Ahead of Ducati Duo

Marc Marquez secured pole position for the Italian GP after outpacing the Ducati duo by the smallest of margins at Mugello Circuit.

The Spanish rider set his fastest time with help from a slipstream provided by his brother, Alex Marquez of Gresini Ducati. Francesco Bagnaia had to settle for second place just five-hundredths of a second behind, while Alex Marquez completed the front row in third position.

Fabio Quartararo claimed fourth position after being cleared to race following Friday’s practice incident. The Yamaha rider finished almost three-tenths behind the pole time.

The remaining top 5 qualifiers:

  • Maverick Vinales (Tech3 KTM)
  • Franco Morbidelli (Yamaha)
  • Fabio Di Giannantonio (Ducati)
  • Pedro Acosta (KTM)
  • Alex Rins (Yamaha)

Meanwhile, Jack Miller will start from 13th position after failing to progress to Q2, beaten by Augusto Fernandez in the final minutes of Q1. The Australian rider is currently fighting to retain his seat at Yamaha for next season.
