Marc Marquez claims Dutch MotoGP sprint victory despite injuries

Marc Marquez delivered a surprising victory in the Dutch MotoGP sprint race at Assen Circuit — an unexpected result following severe crashes during practice sessions.

The Ducati rider started from fourth position with bruised body. He managed to surge into the lead during the opening lap and maintained his advantage until the finish line — beating Alex Marquez from Gresini team by 0.351 seconds.

“I didn’t expect this victory, especially since waking up this morning felt like a lazy Saturday. I felt like sitting on the sofa and watching the race from home,” Marquez revealed.

“We weren’t the fastest today as Alex and Pecco were slightly quicker. However, we managed the situation well and secured these valuable 12 points on a difficult day,” he added.

A crucial moment occurred at the first corner when Marquez nearly took the lead from Fabio Quartararo — he was forced off track but managed to maintain his position. This victory extends Marquez’s championship lead to 43 points ahead of the main race.
