Marc Marquez has acknowledged responsibility for the incident with his brother Alex Marquez while exiting the first corner during yesterday’s Qatar GP.

The factory Ducati rider – who started from pole position – made contact with his brother after unexpectedly reducing speed at the first corner. This allowed Franco Morbidelli from VR46 team to take the lead.

While Marc continued his race effectively, Alex lost both rhythm and positions. The situation worsened when the Gresini rider became involved in an incident with Fabio di Giannantonio – resulting in a long-lap penalty and ending Alex’s streak of second-place MotoGP finishes.

“The contact with Alex was more my mistake. I opened the throttle but felt the rear moving, so I closed it again. He didn’t expect this,” Marc explained.

“It was my mistake and I need to accept it. I tried to speak to Fabio after the race, but his team said it wasn’t the right moment,” Alex shared regarding the Di Giannantonio incident.

“At MotoGP level, these kinds of mistakes are on the limit. That maneuver really put me in danger,” said a frustrated Di Giannantonio.
