Newcastle United secured a commanding 4-1 victory over Manchester United at St James’ Park in Premier League action.

Manager Ruben Amorim acknowledged his team must quickly regroup for their Europa League clash against Lyon — a match that will determine their Champions League prospects for next season.

Goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, making his Premier League debut after an 18-month wait, had a difficult outing — his misplaced distribution led to Newcastle’s fourth goal through Bruno Guimarães.

Newcastle dominated the second half with three additional goals through Harvey Barnes, who capitalized on multiple defensive errors from United. The situation worsened when Joshua Zirkzee had to be withdrawn due to a hamstring injury.

“When we conceded the second goal at the start of the second half, the team’s performance dropped. We need to be better in these moments,” Amorim stated after the match.

This victory marked a historic achievement for Newcastle — completing their first league double over Manchester United since 1931.
