Manchester United Set to Sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves Through Release Clause

According to club sources, Manchester United have decided to activate Matheus Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause from Wolverhampton Wanderers — a transfer that will be finalized after the international break.

The Brazilian striker has become manager Ruben Amorim’s primary target — Cunha’s statistics show impressive performance with 15 goals last season and 12 goals in the previous campaign.

Chief Executive Omar Berrada and Director of Football Negotiations Matt Hargreaves view the release clause as an efficient way to complete transfers — negotiations only focused on payment structure with Wolves.

This decision reflects United’s more disciplined transfer policy. The club now avoids overpaying as happened with Rasmus Højlund’s transfer from Atalanta two years ago.

Several other transfer targets on United’s radar:

  • Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford
  • Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth
  • Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace
