According to The Athletic, Manchester United are preparing for a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2025/2026 season — following what is considered the club’s worst league campaign in 35 years.

Minority owner Jim Ratcliffe has already made key management changes, including the appointments of a new CEO and technical director. The switch from Erik ten Hag to Ruben Amorim in November also marked a clear shift in the club’s direction.

The club’s ability to qualify for the Champions League via the Europa League will heavily influence its transfer budget. A successful Europa League campaign could push the summer spending power to £300 million, with player sales included.

Key transfer priorities reportedly include:

  • Two new strikers to replace Rasmus Højlund
  • Quality central midfielder
  • Goalkeeper replacement for Andre Onana
  • Wing players suited to 3-4-2-1 system

Several players are expected to leave the club, including Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Alejandro Garnacho, potentially generating £90 million in revenue.
