Manchester City Signs Canadian National Team Defender from Harvard University

Manchester City has confirmed the arrival of Canadian international Jade Rose from Harvard University on a four-year contract. The 22-year-old becomes City’s first summer acquisition — while the club is still searching for a permanent manager following Gareth Taylor’s dismissal and Nick Cushing’s interim period conclusion.

“I’m incredibly excited to join City and proud of how far I’ve come. The club’s history, supporters, playing style, and the city — everything attracted me to join,” Rose told club media.

The Citizens finished fourth last season after an underwhelming campaign plagued by injuries. They were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals after a 3-2 aggregate loss to Chelsea, and suffered a 2-1 defeat in the League Cup final against the same opponent.

Rose has earned 28 caps with the Canadian national team since her debut in 2021. Manchester City Women’s football director Therese Sjogran stated they had been monitoring Rose’s development for some time before finally bringing her to the club.
