Manchester City Knocked Out of Club World Cup After Al Hilal Defeat

Pep Guardiola faced a shocking defeat as Manchester City succumbed to a 4-3 loss against Al Hilal in the Club World Cup match at Camping World Stadium, Orlando.

Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou — delivered an impressive performance with crucial saves in the first half that kept Al Hilal in the game. Marcos Leonardo eventually scored the decisive goal in the 112th minute.

“We would have loved to continue in this competition that happens only once every four years. The team showed good performance, but now it’s time to go home and prepare mentally for the new season,” said Guardiola.

The Spanish coach acknowledged his team’s lack of clinical finishing — particularly in the first half when they created numerous chances. Nevertheless, he praised the team spirit and positive relationships between players, including the role of captain Bernardo Silva.
