Manchester City Brings Back James Trafford from Burnley

James Trafford is set to rejoin Manchester City after the Premier League champions agreed to a £27 million transfer with Burnley, according to ESPN.

The England U-21 goalkeeper will sign a five-year contract — with a 12-month extension option. Newcastle United had previously bid the same amount and offered Martin Dúbravka as part of the deal.

Burnley was obligated to inform City about Newcastle’s offer due to a clause in Trafford’s sale contract from two years ago. City then decided to match the offer — leading Trafford to choose his former club.

City’s initial plan was to sell either Éderson or Stefan Ortega before bringing in Trafford. However, Newcastle’s bid forced them to accelerate this transfer process. Éderson is reportedly staying, while Ortega is likely to be sold.
