Man City Defeat Wydad Casablanca in Club World Cup Opener

Manchester City claimed their first victory in Group G of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup — defeating Wydad Casablanca 2-0 at Lincoln Financial Field Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s team dominated from the start — Phil Foden opened the scoring in the second minute with a deflected shot. Jeremy Doku later extended The Citizens’ lead.

The match marked a starting debut for Tijjani Reijnders, a player of Indonesian descent who played the full 90 minutes. Another new recruit, Rayan Cherki, also made his first appearance.

Omar Marmoush nearly increased City’s advantage — two golden opportunities in the 9th and 19th minutes narrowly missed the Wydad goal.
