Malut United shocks Liga 1 by releasing 22 players before new season

Malut United — last season’s third-place team in Liga 1 — has made a shocking move by releasing 22 players while other clubs are starting their pre-season preparations for 2025/26.

This unexpected decision comes amid the club’s ongoing search for Imran Nahumarury‘s replacement and preparations for the ASEAN Club Championship draw this weekend.

“We have released 22 players following evaluation and discussion processes. Team requirements were the main consideration in determining which players to release or retain,” explained Willem D. Nanlohy, Malut United’s COO.

Meanwhile, Dewa United has strengthened their squad by signing another Persib Bandung player — Edo Febriansah following Nick Kuipers‘ path to join the club known as Banten Warriors.
