Malaysian national team confident to surprise big teams at CAFA Nations Cup

Ahead of CAFA Nations Cup 2025 scheduled in two months, Dollah Salleh as Vice President of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) shows excessive optimism about his team’s chances.

The tournament taking place in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan from August 29 to September 8 — places Malaysia in Group B alongside strong Central Asian teams.

In their tournament debut, Harimau Malaya will face:

• Iran (defending champions)
• Tajikistan (host nation)
• Afghanistan

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Malaysia creates some disappointment (for opponents),” stated Dollah Salleh.

All Group B matches will be held at Hisor Central Stadium, Tajikistan — while Group A containing Uzbekistan, Oman, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan will play in Uzbekistan.
