Malaysian League cancels League Cup for youth development

According to Bolasport.com, Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced significant changes in their domestic competition. This decision comes after the disappointing performance of Malaysia U-23 national team in ASEAN Cup U-23 2025.

The Young Tigers only recorded one win, one draw, and one defeat — failure to gain points against Indonesia resulted in their elimination before semifinals.

Shazly Shaik, MFL Acting Executive Officer, confirmed the cancellation of Malaysian League Cup for the upcoming season.

“This step is taken to give young players more opportunities and playing minutes in MFL. Young generation is the future of national team and we must focus on maintaining this,” said Shazly.
