According to Harian Metro, Malaysian men’s doubles pair Junaidi Arif/Roy King Yap are targeting the quarterfinals at the 2025 Asian Championships — a tournament that could see them face Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin or Kim Won-ho/Seo Seung-jae.

As Malaysia’s fourth-ranked doubles pair under Herry Iman Pierngadi’s guidance at the BAM national training center, Arif/Yap are positioned behind three senior pairs:

  • Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik

  • Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzuddin

  • Man Wei Chong/Tee Kai Wun

In the first round, Arif/Yap will face unseeded Singaporean pair — Eng Keat Wesley Koh/Junsuke Kubo. The winners will meet either Lee Fang-Chih/Lee Fang-Jen or second seeds Liang Wei Keng/Wang Chang.

“Hopefully nothing unexpected happens before this Asian Championships,” stated Arif.

As a rising pair in Malaysian badminton, Arif/Yap will look to make a significant impact at the Asian Championships.

Their target of reaching the quarterfinals is ambitious—especially given the strong competition they will face.

With the guidance of Herry Iman Pierngadi—they hope to make the most of this opportunity and progress further in the tournament.
