Malaysia still considering CAFA 2025 tournament invitation

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is currently considering an invitation from the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) to participate in the 2025 Central Asian Cup.

The tournament is scheduled for August 16 to September 9, 2025 — providing Malaysia with an opportunity to face strong teams like Iran and Uzbekistan who have secured their places in the 2026 World Cup.

Zainal Abidin Hassan, Deputy Chairman of FAM Competition Committee, stated that the federation still needs time to discuss before making a final decision regarding participation in the tournament.
