According to New Straits Times, Malaysia is preparing an unexpected strategy in the mixed doubles sector for the upcoming Sudirman Cup 2025, to be held in Xiamen, China.

Under the leadership of head coach Nova Widianto, three Malaysian mixed doubles pairs — Goh Soon Huat/Lai Shevon Jemie, Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, and Hoo Pang Ron/Cheng Su Yin — are prepared to be reshuffled for team strategy purposes.

“If Malaysia needs us to split up, we have no objections. We will do it for the team,” said Lai Shevon Jemie.

While Goh/Lai remain the most senior and experienced pair, they’ve demonstrated a strong team-first attitude ahead of the prestigious mixed team tournament, which begins on April 27, 2025.

This reshuffle reflects BAM’s (Badminton Association of Malaysia) bold approach in maximizing their chances at Sudirman Cup success in Xiamen.
