Malaysia has chance to face Iran in CAFA Nations Cup 2025

The Malaysia national team has received a special opportunity to participate in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 — a tournament to be held in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

In this competition, Harimau Malaya has the chance to face strong Asian teams — including Iran, currently ranked 18th in the world, and Uzbekistan, who have secured their ticket to the 2026 World Cup.

This invitation comes after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) declined a friendly match offer from Indonesia’s national team planned for the upcoming FIFA Matchday in September.

The CAFA Nations Cup 2025 is scheduled to run from August 28 to September 9, 2025 — serving as a testing ground for Malaysia’s national team strength at the Asian level.
