Malaysia announces Sudirman Cup 2025 squad, Lee Zii Jia absent

Ahead of Sudirman Cup 2025, Malaysia’s badminton team has released their official squad list for the tournament scheduled for April 27 to May 4.

Malaysia — drawn in Group C alongside Japan, France, and Australia — has strengthened their lineup by including their independent men’s doubles pair in the squad.

Unfortunately, the team will be without Lee Zii Jia — who hasn’t recovered from an injury sustained last December. In his absence, Malaysia will rely on young players Leong Jun Hao and Justin Hao in the men’s singles category.

While Japan remains the favorite to top the group, Malaysia has potential to cause upsets — particularly in men’s singles and women’s doubles sectors.
