Indonesia national team goalkeeper Maarten Paes has shared his insights about new coach Patrick Kluivert, as reported by FC Dallas‘ YouTube channel.

The Dutch coach has begun his tenure with the Indonesia national team with mixed results in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Asia Zone—securing a 1-0 victory against Bahrain and suffering a 5-1 defeat to Australia.

“First of all, he is a very warm person, very kind. I think the first match was very difficult to prepare for,” Paes stated.

“Because we only had one day where everyone was present, and we could barely train,” he added.

The Indonesia national team will face their next challenges in June—meeting China and Japan in the continuation of World Cup qualifiers.

These upcoming matches will be crucial in determining their chances of advancing further—as they seek to refine their tactics and improve their performance under Kluivert‘s leadership.
