Luka Modric joins Swansea to help promotion bid to Premier League

Luka Modric — the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner — brings valuable experience to English football after spending four years with Tottenham Hotspur from 2008 to 2012.

“This is an exciting opportunity,” stated Modric through the club’s official website. “Swansea has a strong identity, amazing fans, and the ambition to compete at the highest level.”

Swansea City currently sits in 12th position in the Championship — safe from relegation but far from promotion chances. The Swans have been absent from the Premier League since their relegation seven years ago.

“Having played at the highest level, I believe I can share my experience with the club,” explained Modric. “My goal is to support the club’s positive development and help build a happy future.”
