Luka Modric joins AC Milan after 13 seasons at Real Madrid

According to Milan TV, Luka Modric has officially joined AC Milan on a one-year contract with an option for an additional season. The 39-year-old midfielder ends his 13-season journey with Real Madrid.

Modric revealed his lifelong affection for Milan since childhood — inspired by his idol and fellow Croatian, Zvonimir Boban. “Growing up, I used to watch a lot of Italian league and Milan was my favorite team,” said the former Ballon d’Or winner.

“Milan cannot be satisfied with average. The club needs to have the biggest goals possible, to win titles, and compete with the best teams in the world. That’s why I’m here,” Modric emphasized.

Modric’s arrival is expected to bring change to Milan after their eighth-place finish last season. He will wear number 14 — a number he previously wore with Croatia national team and Tottenham Hotspur, as number 10 remains with Rafael Leão.
