Luka Modric becomes Swansea City minority owner while active at Real Madrid

Luka Modric has taken a surprising step by joining as a minority owner of Swansea City — a club currently competing in the Championship, England’s second division.

The Real Madrid midfielder — who remains active as a professional footballer — will not be directly involved in the operations of the club which now sits in 12th place with 54 points.

Swansea City has been unable to return to the Premier League since their relegation seven years ago — however, Modric’s big-name presence is expected to attract quality players to join.

“I think he’s involved in ownership and things like that,” stated manager Alan Sheehan in his first comments since Modric‘s arrival.
