Luka Modric agrees to join AC Milan next season

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan’s sporting director Igli Tare revealed that Luka Modric has verbally agreed to join the Serie A club.

Tare emphasized Modric’s enthusiasm during their direct meeting — the Croatian midfielder showed great interest in the team’s prospects for competing for the title.

“The first question Luka asked me was: ‘Will we be a team built to win the championship?’ He has won six Champions Leagues and wants to be a star player from the start,” stated Tare.

The player, who will turn 40 this September, will sign a one-year contract with an extension option, including a net salary of around €3.5 million per season plus bonuses — the signing will take place after the Club World Cup concludes.

After 13 glorious years with Real Madrid earning 28 major trophies, Modric hopes to secure regular playing time at Milan in preparation for next summer’s World Cup in the United States.
