According to post-match press conference statements, Luis Enrique — Paris Saint-Germain’s coach — was involved in an incident with Chelsea players following their 3-0 defeat in the Club World Cup final.

Tensions escalated after João Neves received a red card in the 86th minute for pulling Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella’s hair. The situation intensified at the final whistle — involving João Pedro, Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Achraf Hakimi.

“I was just trying to separate the players so the situation wouldn’t get worse,” explained Luis Enrique. “While this wasn’t ideal, the match pressure was very high for all of us.”

“We are not losers, we are runners-up. A loser is someone who gives up, and in high-level sport there are no losers at all,” he added.

PSG, who failed to add a world title alongside their Champions League trophy, will return to action in mid-August when the French League resumes.
