Paris Saint-Germain have booked their place in the UEFA Champions League semifinals following a 5-4 aggregate victory over Aston Villa, despite a 3-2 defeat in the second leg.

After the match, PSG manager Luis Enrique boldly declared his squad as “the best in the world,” citing the depth and quality of players across all positions.

“I think I have the best squad in the world, not only the goalkeeper. When you are in a club like PSG, you have a lot of quality players,” he told Reuters.

The Ligue 1 champions, who have never lifted the Champions League trophy, now await the winner of the Arsenal vs Real Madrid tie in the semifinals. This marks their second semifinal appearance in the last two seasons, signaling a new era of consistency at the European level.

Goals from Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes in the first half helped PSG weather a spirited Aston Villa comeback. Despite conceding three goals, Gianluigi Donnarumma kept the French side in the tie with key saves in the second half.

Enrique’s project has shifted PSG’s reliance from superstars like Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé to a more balanced and youth-driven approach — which included eliminating Liverpool in the knockout stage earlier in the campaign.
