Lucy Bronze discusses ‘Proper England’ mentality ahead of Sweden clash

Ahead of the Euro 2025 quarter-final match against Sweden in Zurich, Lucy Bronze emphasizes the importance of the “Proper England” mentality that characterizes their team.

England bounced back after a 2-1 defeat to France in their opening game — securing convincing victories over Netherlands and Wales. Meanwhile, Sweden has performed flawlessly with three consecutive wins.

“We’ve never negated tactics with the term ‘Proper England’. It’s more about the fact that we’re a ‘new England’ with many young players who have different experiences compared to myself,” explained Bronze.

Coach Sarina Wiegman has a complete 23-player squad available for tomorrow’s match, after Jess Park recovered from a migraine. Wiegman anticipates Sweden’s aerial attacks — the team with the most crosses in the tournament.

Despite England’s commanding 4-0 victory in their last meeting at Euro 2022 semifinals, both teams agree that result will have no bearing on this match.
