Luca Marini Extends Contract with Honda Factory MotoGP Team

According to Motorsport.com, Luca Marini has secured his MotoGP future by signing a contract extension with Honda’s factory team.

The Italian rider who joined Honda last year — replacing Marc Marquez — currently sits 15th in the championship with 52 points, ahead of his teammate Joan Mir who has accumulated 32 points.

“That has never been my goal, because I think we have always understood each other,” stated Marini when asked about his future after finishing 12th in Brno.

Honda failed to acquire Jorge Martin from Aprilia for the 2026 season — the reigning world champion remains their primary target for 2027 when new technical regulations come into effect.

Meanwhile at the LCR satellite team, Johann Zarco will continue leading the project, while Somkiat Chantra is likely to depart due to disappointing performance — this situation has led Honda to reevaluate its commitment with Idemitsu sponsor to maintain an Asian rider.
