Lu Guang Zu Eliminated in First Round of Indonesia Open 2025

Lu Guang Zu, the world number 11 men’s singles player from China, suffered an early exit in the first round of the Indonesia Open 2025, falling to Lee Chia Hao of Taiwan at Istora Senayan, Jakarta.

The 27-year-old, who recently reached the Singapore Open 2025 final, was unable to replicate his form, losing a fiercely contested match in three games: 20-22, 26-24, 13-21.

Tight Contest from the Start

The match opened with high intensity as both players pushed each other in long rallies. Lu Guang Zu narrowly lost the first game 20-22, despite leading 18-17 at one point.

In the second game, Lu responded well. He built an early 14-11 lead, only to see it slip away after a series of unforced errors. Lee Chia Hao leveled the score at 14-14, then overtook Lu at 17-16 after a mishit backhand from the Chinese player. Still, Lu kept his composure and forced a decider by clinching the second game 26-24.

Lee Chia Hao Dominates the Decider

Momentum shifted in the final game as Lee Chia Hao dictated the pace, forcing Lu into repeated defensive positions. The Taiwanese shuttler ran away with a convincing 21-13 scoreline, knocking out one of the top seeds in this year’s tournament.

This defeat halts Lu Guang Zu’s hopes of securing his first Indonesia Open title, while Lee Chia Hao marches on to the second round with growing confidence.
