Louis van Gaal recovers from cancer, ready to return to national team coaching

Louis van Gaal – former Manchester United and Ajax manager – has announced that he is no longer affected by his prostate cancer diagnosis.

The 73-year-old coach underwent several operations about two years ago and his health condition continues to improve. “I have regular check-ups every few months, and the results are positive. My condition is getting better,” he revealed during a Dutch television show.

Van Gaal – who has managed Barcelona and Bayern Munich – emphasizes no interest in returning to club management, but remains open to handling a top-tier national team. Currently, the former Netherlands coach from the 2022 World Cup serves as a special advisor at Ajax.
