Liverpool returns to training after Diogo Jota tragedy

According to ESPN, Liverpool squad has returned to training at AXA training center — five days after the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva in a car accident in Spain.

The accident occurred while both were traveling to a ferry to England in their Lamborghini — which veered off the road and burst into flames. The planned preseason training that was supposed to start last weekend was postponed following the incident.

Arne Slot along with most of the first team players attended the brothers’ funeral in Gondomar, Portugal. Upon returning to training, players were greeted with various floral tributes bearing the club’s anthem lyrics: “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

“Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break,” stated Mohamed Salah. “It’s going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won’t be there when we go back.”

“I’m absolutely devastated and in total disbelief,” said captain Virgil van Dijk.

The friendly match against Preston North End scheduled for this weekend remains uncertain.
