Liverpool Ready to Complete Florian Wirtz’s Club Record Transfer

According to ESPN, Florian Wirtz is set to complete his move to Liverpool for a club-record transfer fee from Bayer Leverkusen — the player is scheduled for medical examination this weekend.

An initial agreement of £100 million plus bonuses up to £16 million has been reached after two previous bids were rejected. If all bonuses are met, this transfer will surpass Chelsea’s record purchase of Moises Caicedo two years ago.

Liverpool has successfully outbid several European elite clubs — including Bayern Munich, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. The Reds’ management hopes the 22-year-old midfielder can make a significant impact similar to Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

Wirtz will become Liverpool’s second summer recruit following the arrival of his former Leverkusen teammate, Jeremie Frimpong, last month. The club has also agreed to transfer Bournemouth defender, Milos Kerkez, for approximately €45 million.
