Liverpool Not Giving Up on Alexander Isak — Ready to Submit New Offer, as Striker Pushes for Move

Liverpool are far from done with their summer business, and Alexander Isak remains firmly on their radar. Newcastle United rejected the Reds’ £110 million opening bid plus add-ons, which fell short of the £120 million mark. Despite this, Liverpool are reportedly preparing a second proposal—though Newcastle continue to value Isak at around £150 million and refuse to sell unless a suitable replacement is lined up.

Romano: Liverpool ready to submit new Isak offer

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are ready to submit a new offer if Newcastle show any willingness to negotiate.

Liverpool are maintaining their focus on Alexander Isak,” Romano posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Under new manager Arne Slot, the Reds are actively reshaping their attack. Following the arrival of Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, the club views Isak as a key component in building a sharper, more versatile forward line.

Adding urgency to the situation is the player himself. Isak is reportedly eager to make the move to Anfield and has expressed his desire to the Newcastle hierarchy. Although he has not formally submitted a transfer request, his stance is said to be accelerating the Reds efforts.

Romano added:

Isak maintains his position; he doesn’t want to stay at Newcastle, he wants to leave and join #LFC.”

Why Isak fits Slot’s tactical vision

The pursuit of Isak comes amid questions over Liverpool’s current attacking setup. Darwin Núñez struggled for consistency last season, while the squad is still adjusting to the emotional and tactical loss of Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away earlier this year.

Isak’s intelligent movement, technical ability, and composed finishing make him an ideal fit for Slot’s modern No.9 role. His profile aligns with the Dutchman’s vision for a fluid, dynamic front line capable of positional interchanges and high pressing.

Newcastle’s reluctance could shift

While Newcastle initially rejected Liverpool’s opening offer—reported to be £110 million plus add-ons, falling short of the £120 million mark—there are signs the door may not be completely closed. The Magpies remain firm in valuing Isak at around £150 million, but have so far failed to land a replacement, notably missing out on Benjamin Sesko, who opted to join Manchester United.

Sources close to the club suggest Newcastle may reconsider a sale if a viable alternative becomes available. With Financial Fair Play constraints and ongoing squad planning in mind, the club is said to be weighing its options carefully as the transfer window enters its final weeks.

Head coach Eddie Howe confirmed that Liverpool’s bid had been rejected but admitted he was uncertain about how the situation would evolve.

What’s next?

With the transfer deadline looming, Liverpool are expected to return with an improved bid. The club remains hopeful that Newcastle’s stance could soften—particularly if they succeed in bringing in a replacement forward.

For now, all eyes remain on Alexander Isak, who could become a cornerstone of Arne Slot’s vision for a revitalised Liverpool attack.
