Liverpool appoints Giovanni van Bronckhorst as first team assistant manager

Liverpool has announced the appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as first team assistant manager — replacing John Heitinga who now serves as Ajax head coach.

Van Bronckhorst brings rich coaching experience — winning titles in the Netherlands with Feyenoord and in Scotland with Rangers. The former Beşiktaş and Guangzhou City manager will join Arne Slot’s coaching team to defend the Premier League title next season.

Liverpool’s coaching staff changes also include the appointment of Xavi Valero as first team goalkeeping coach — replacing Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel who have left the club. Valero, who previously worked at West Ham for seven years, was part of Liverpool during Rafael Benítez’s era before following the coach to Inter Milan, Chelsea, Napoli, and Real Madrid.
