Lille Target French Veteran Striker from LAFC

According to ESPN confirmation, Ligue 1 club Lille are approaching LAFC striker Olivier Giroud to join their team.

The 38-year-old forward — who joined LAFC about a year ago after leaving AC Milan — has yet to show his best form in MLS with only three goals from 20 appearances.

Giroud’s status as France’s all-time leading scorer with 57 goals hasn’t translated to success in America — he needed 16 matches to score his first goal.

While still under contract with LAFC until the end of the 2025 season, Giroud’s annual salary of $3.68 million could be an obstacle for Lille. The French club, which finished fifth last season, will compete in the Europa League next season.
