Liga 1 clubs still far from foreign player quota limit for 2025/26 season

According to Transfermarkt data, Liga 1 clubs have yet to maximize the new foreign player quota for the 2025/26 season — eight months after the regulation change announcement by PT Liga Indonesia Baru (PT LIB).

The latest regulation allows each club to register 11 foreign players — with a limit of eight players eligible for match squad inclusion. This figure shows a significant increase from the previous season which only allowed six players to play and two on the bench.

To date, Liga 1 clubs have shown a relatively passive response to this rule change — with the maximum number of newly recruited foreign players only reaching eight players. Data records that only eight clubs have recruited up to this limit.
