Liga 1 2025/26 without local coaches after Imran Nahumarury’s dismissal

According to Bolasport.com, Liga 1 2025/26 will be the first season without local coaches as head coaches — a situation that reflects a crisis in Indonesian coaching development.

Imran Nahumarury — the only permanent local coach last season who led Malut United to third place — has just been dismissed from his position. This dismissal deals a heavy blow to local coach representation in Indonesia’s top football division.

The other two local coaches who served last season are no longer in main positions — Ricky Nelson has returned to assistant coach at Persija Jakarta, while Muhammad Ridwan had to accept relegation with PSIS Semarang to Liga 2.
