After two underwhelming races in the 2025 F1 season, Liam Lawson’s position at Red Bull Racing is under scrutiny. The New Zealand driver qualified 18th, 20th, and 20th, finishing outside the points in all three starts with one DNF, 14th, and 12th places.

Team Awaits Data Before Deciding

Christian Horner, Red Bull Team Principal, confirmed no hasty decision will be made:

“We have data from the first two races and we’ll analyze everything carefully. With 400 engineers and 600 sensors, we have a lot to go through.”

Yuki Tsunoda Touted as Replacement

Yuki Tsunoda is emerging as the lead candidate to replace Lawson, earning praise from Helmut Marko:

“Yuki is in the best shape of his life — more mature and with a different approach.”

The RB21 car’s tricky handling — sharp front end, unstable rear, and setup favoring Max Verstappen’s driving style — is also a factor.

Swapping Lawson and Tsunoda is the logical move, but promoting Tsunoda before his home race in Suzuka could carry risks.
