Leong Jun Hao eliminated in Japan Open 2025 first round

Leong Jun Hao ended Malaysia’s men’s singles campaign at Japan Open 2025 after being eliminated in the first round. The last Malaysian representative fell to young French player, Alex Lanier.

In the 40-minute match, Leong failed to match Lanier’s gameplay — the eighth seed and defending champion. The final score showed Lanier’s dominance with 21-12, 22-14.

This defeat further compounds Malaysia’s burden in men’s singles sector, especially after Lee Zii Jia‘s withdrawal from the tournament. Leong, who was expected to advance further, had to pack his bags early.
