Leo/Bagas reach world ranking 9 after eight months partnership

Indonesian men’s doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana show remarkable achievement — they now hold world ranking number 9 since being paired after the Paris Olympics 2024.

Within eight months, this partnership has secured various achievements — Korea Open 2024 champions, All England 2025 runners-up, and Asian Championships 2025 bronze medalists.

“Alhamdulillah, we could reach the Asian Championships semifinals. It wasn’t easy to achieve this stage,” stated Bagas at national training camp in Cipayung, Jakarta.

“We’ve improved quite well, but we must not be arrogant. We shouldn’t be overconfident and stay humble while taking matches step by step,” added Bagas.

Leo is currently recovering from a knee injury sustained during Asian Championships semifinals against Chen Bo Yang/Liu Yi from China. “Yesterday I had it checked, results should come today but I haven’t seen them yet. Hopefully, nothing serious, though I didn’t dare to train fully today as I’m waiting for test results, focusing more on recovery,” he explained.
