Leeds United sign Slovenia national team defender Jaka Bijol from Udinese

Leeds United have officially signed Slovenia national team defender Jaka Bijol from Serie A club Udinese for a transfer fee of around £15 million.

The 26-year-old player — who has made 63 appearances for Slovenia national team — has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League promoted club.

Bijol impressed while representing Slovenia at Euro 2024 by playing full matches in four games — including helping his team secure goalless draws against England and Portugal, before being eliminated in the round of 16 through penalties.

Slovenia will begin their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign this September in a group with:

  • Switzerland
  • Sweden
  • Kosovo

Leeds United, now owned by 49ers Enterprises group, will start their Premier League season by hosting Everton in mid-August.
