Leeds United sign Slovenia national team defender Jaka Bijol

Leeds United have announced the signing of Slovenia national team defender Jaka Bijol from Serie A club Udinese — with a reported transfer fee of £15 million.

The 26-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League promoted club. Bijol is a key figure for Slovenia national team with 63 international caps.

Bijol’s impressive performance was evident during Euro 2024 — where he featured in four matches and managed to secure clean sheets against Harry Kane’s England and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the round of 16.

Slovenia will begin their 2026 World Cup qualification campaign this September in a group containing Switzerland, Sweden, and Kosovo. Meanwhile, Leeds United will start their Premier League season by hosting Everton.
