Leclerc Reveals Technical Challenges Behind Austrian GP Podium

Charles Leclerc secured third place at the Austrian GP — a race he described as uneventful due to focusing on managing various technical challenges.

The Ferrari driver lost second position to Oscar Piastri at the start — a moment that proved decisive for his race outcome.

“There weren’t many key moments on my side. I wish I had done a better job at the start to be alongside Lando. After that, from Turn 1 to the end, it was a very boring race,” Leclerc stated.

Ferrari instructed Leclerc and his teammate Lewis Hamilton to perform lift and coast — a technique of lifting off the throttle and coasting — to prevent excessive plank wear, an issue that previously led to the team’s disqualification in the Chinese GP.

Despite the challenges, Ferrari’s new floor upgrade proved beneficial.

“The upgrades were definitely a step forward and helped us reach the podium today. The team did an incredible job to deliver them as early as possible,” added the Monegasque driver.
