Lauren James Included in England Squad for Euro 2025 Despite Injury

Sarina Wiegman has announced England’s 23-player squad for Euro 2025 — making a bold decision to include Lauren James who is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Significant changes have occurred in the squad following the retirement of Mary Earps and Fran Kirby, along with Millie Bright’s absence focusing on mental health. Michelle Agyemang earned her place after scoring a spectacular goal on her debut against Belgium.

The squad announcement was uniquely delivered through a poem reading by notable figures:

  • David Beckham
  • Ian Wright
  • Harry Kane
  • Bukayo Saka
  • Rachel Daly
  • Keely Hodgkinson
  • Daisy May Cooper

“This group represents a well-balanced mix of experienced players and newcomers,” said Wiegman. “I’m confident in what this team can achieve this summer.”

Four players have been placed on the standby list — Missy Bo Kearns, Sophie Baggaley, Laura Blindkilde Brown, and Lucy Parker.

The complete squad comprises three goalkeepers, eight defenders, five midfielders, and seven forwards who will begin their campaign on July 5th.
