Last Corner Drama: Three-Car Battle at Sonoma Raceway

The ARCA West race at Sonoma Raceway delivered extraordinary drama as William Sawalich secured victory in a spectacular three-car battle with a razor-thin margin, as reported by Flo Racing.

Sawalich’s race dominance was interrupted when Kyle Keller stalled on the main straight — forcing the race into overtime with one lap remaining. Alon Day, the four-time NASCAR Euro Series champion from Israel, and Christian Eckes emerged as key rivals in the final showdown.

The crucial moment occurred in turn one when Day pushed Sawalich off track, but both drivers slid into the dirt area. Eckes seized the lead, yet the intense competition continued through to the final hairpin turn.

“That was definitely our race. It just sucks that it had to happen that way. We did what we could to get our car into Victory Lane,” Sawalich stated after the race.

The battle reached its climax in the final corner — all three drivers fought closely with physical contact until the finish line. Sawalich claimed victory by 0.066 seconds over Eckes, while Day finished third just 0.156 seconds behind the winner.
