Lando Norris Claims Dominant Pole Position for Austrian Grand Prix

Lando Norris showcased exceptional performance at Spielberg circuit — the McLaren driver secured pole position for Austrian GP with a commanding lap time of 1m03.971s.

McLaren’s dominance was split by Charles Leclerc who will start from second position, while Norris’s teammate Oscar Piastri secured third after his final lap was compromised by Pierre Gasly’s spin.

Lewis Hamilton will start from fourth position, followed by George Russell in fifth, and impressive rookie Liam Lawson in sixth. Max Verstappen — who had claimed pole position in the previous four Austrian GPs — must settle for seventh position.

Q2 session was temporarily halted due to a fire incident at the final corner. Several senior drivers were eliminated in early stages:

  • Fernando Alonso
  • Alex Albon
  • Isack Hadjar
  • Franco Colapinto
  • Oliver Bearman

Meanwhile, Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda failed to progress from Q1 at his team’s home race — he will start from 18th position, only ahead of Carlos Sainz and Nico Hulkenberg who will occupy the back row.
