According to Marca, young star Lamine Yamal‘s 18th birthday celebration in Garaaf — a coastal town near Catalunya — has triggered serious public debate.

The event attended by 250 guests drew attention from the Association of People with Achondroplasia and Other Skeletal Dysplasias (ADEE) — the organization raised concerns about people with dwarfism being hired to entertain guests.

Spanish High Sports Council President Jose Manuel Rodriguez Uribes called for the case to be handled without excessive dramatization — stating young athletes must serve as role models for future generations.

“The message conveyed by athletes must always be positive; we keep repeating this. Sport is about values and respect. I believe we must continue striving in that direction,” stated Uribes.
